Daphne was Apollo’s first love. It was brought upon by malice from Cupid who was offended by Apollo. Cupid struck Apollo with an arrow making Apollo fall in love with Daphne. Cupid then struck Daphne with an adverse arrow which repelled her from love. Apollo pursued Daphne and she fled. While Apollo gained upon her, Daphne called upon her father, Peneus the River God to help her escape Apollo. Her wish was granted and Daphne was then changed into a laurel tree.
